Jacek Lupina, 55, a Polish collector who owns more than 1,500 Apple products, has opened the largest museum dedicated to the company in Europe.

His collection shows the evolution of Apple computers over almost 50 years.

Among them is a replica of the first Apple-1 computer, which he built himself over a period of three years, using the components of the time and which was signed by Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Inc.

"Steve Wozniak looked carefully at the motherboard. When I saw him, the construction was not ready yet so I showed him only the motherboard," says Lupina.

"He analyzed all the soldering, the components, he really liked the construction. He also showed me the places that he and Steve Jobs wanted to change but they didn't have time."

In the museum, "you can see the evolution and the technological changes but also the dead ends which interest me a lot," says the collector.

"My ambition was that visitors to this museum could see what the early days were like, how primitive it was, very simple. Even the construction was made of wood so it has nothing to do with what you find today," said Lupina.

There are many who are keen to see this first-of-its-kind collection.

"I'm used to modern computers but this collection is big and it looks good and it's nice to look at even if it might look a bit like antiques to me," said Jakub, a 22-year-old student visiting the museum.

"It's nice to be able to fill in the past, remember what it used to be like and see how much everything has changed in the last 40 years," said Julia, a 31-year-old technology enthusiast. "Today the technology is really at a very advanced level."
