Manchester United soccer club has announced that it has re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo. The record-breaking Portuguese forward represented the English club between 2003 and 2009, winning three Premier Leagues and a Champions League.
Ronaldo, now 36, had recently been linked with a move to Manchester City but has now returned to Old Trafford. Already holding the records for the most goals (134) and assists (42) in the Champions League, this summer, he became the record goalscorer in European Championships finals (14) and is now tied for the most goals in international soccer (109).
Born on the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira, Ronaldo represented the Lisbon club Sporting before first moving to Manchester as a promising teenager. He later joined Real Madrid in Spain, becoming the club's all-time top goalscorer with 451 in 438 games.

In 2018, Ronaldo joined Juventus in Italy, where he scored 101 goals in 134 games. He is the only man to have been top scorer in England, Spain and Italy, which are generally acknowledged as soccer's best three leagues.
Portugal's all-time top goalscorer and most-capped player with 109 goals in 179 games, Ronaldo has won the Ballon d'Or, the sport's highest individual honor, on five occasions.
His signing will be a boost to Manchester United, which has not won the English league since the 2013 retirement of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who led the club to 13 league titles in 21 seasons.
