Zelenskyy: 'It's important for us that China wouldn't help Russia'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said China was balancing and maintaining neutrality over Russia's military campaign in his country, but that he would like to see China join the countries opposed to Moscow over the conflict.

"I'd like China to join the unified world position as for tyranny of Russia against Ukraine. As for now, China is balancing and indeed has neutrality and I'll be honest this neutrality is better than China would join Russia," said the Ukrainian leader as he answered questions via videolink during an event organised by the Australian National University.

"I believe the people of China will do the prudent choice. It's important for us that China wouldn't help Russia," added Zelenskyy.

"We have some occasions for sanctions, some nations help [the] Russian Federation a little. They do not feel on themselves [the] influence this war has made on the whole world."
