The torch-lighting ceremony for the 24th Winter Olympic Games will be held on October 18 at the ancient Olympia site in Greece.
The flame will be handed over to the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee at a ceremony held at the Panathenaic Stadium in Greece the next day.
According to reports, the Olympic flame collector will use a concave mirror to gather sunlight to light the torch in front of the Temple of Hera at the ancient Olympia site at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.

Afterwards, several torchbearers will be sent to Athens, where they will stay overnight in the Acropolis, and will be transferred to the scene of the handover ceremony at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Then the flame lantern for the Beijing winter Olympics will be ignited. The kindling lamp will be flown back to Beijing by the Winter Olympics Organizing Committee.
