Strom Darcy and its accompanying heavy snow and freezing temperatures has disrupted several countries across Europe.

The conditions have hit transport links and coronavirus testing services.

In the Netherlands the weather has forced authorities to close schools that had been set to reopen after seven weeks.

This is the first significant snowstorm the country has suffered in a decade, with Dutch authorities declaring a rare "code red" emergency for the entire country.

Flights have been canceled at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, with trains, including international services to Germany, also stopping.

In Germany, snowfall has resulted in significant disruption to trains and cancellations between several cities including Hamburg and Hanover. In Belgium, the freezing conditions are set to continue during the week as cold air continues to blow in from Russia and Eastern Europe.

Czechia has also experienced heavy snowfall, with temperatures hitting minus 27 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the UK is experiencing a drop in temperatures and heavy snow and ice across the country, with conditions dropping below freezing.

But, despite countries coming to a halt, many people decided to make the most of their situations and enjoy the snow - dusting off sleds and skiing gear and throwing snowballs.
