AI is swiftly emerging as a new tool that can create jobs that in turn can drive "new quality productive forces." It is a phrase coined by China's President Xi Jinping that refers to the concept that advanced productivity while maintaining a high quality will lead to development and growth.
Dai Wenyuan, Founder and CEO of Beijing Fourth Paradigm Technology, delved into the transformative impact of innovations like artificial intelligence (AI) on industrial development.
Established in September 2014, Fourth Paradigm, a leading Chinese AI company, has made significant strides in the field, culminating in its listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange last September.
Dai emphasized the role of AI as a catalyst for fostering high-quality productive forces. He explained that the core purpose of technological innovation is to propel industrial upgrades, enabling businesses to achieve optimal efficiency and development.
Highlighting the automotive manufacturing sector as a case in point, Dai illustrated how AI revolutionizes production processes. Traditionally reliant on human expertise, the sector faced limitations in optimizing complex manufacturing systems.
However, with AI's ability to analyze vast amounts of data from every production line and process, industries can now achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency.
"AI emerges as a new tool and new labors - then data becomes a new energy," he explained.

Looking towards the future, Dai outlined the company's vision of "AI Plus" - the integration of AI technology into various industrial scenarios.
By harnessing AI's ability to discern patterns from data, businesses can gain deeper insights and achieve better decision-making capabilities. From financial anti-fraud measures to personalized healthcare predictions based on medical history, the potential applications of AI are vast.
Addressing concerns about the impact of AI on the existing working model, Dai stressed the importance of collaboration between humans and machines.
As AI becomes integrated into everyday life, he envisaged a future where humans and machines work in synergy, with AI aiding humans in routine tasks while humans contribute to refining AI algorithms.
Regarding the broader economic impact of tech-driven changes, Dai expressed optimism about AI's transformative potential.
He anticipates that AI-driven transformations will significantly enhance the efficiency of all industries, leading to both the upgrade of traditional sectors and the emergence of new industries, thereby injecting innovation and vitality into the Chinese economy.
