Emergency workers have managed to rescue a family from the rubble of a destroyed building in Zaporizhzhia, after the city became one of many Ukrainian urban hubs to be targeted in a wave of deadly Russian missile attacks earlier this week.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine released the video on Wednesday, two days after the aerial bombardment in the southern Ukrainian city left at least one dead.

Regional official Oleksandr Starukh said that more people may remain under the rubble as the search and rescue operation continues.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he ordered the attacks across Ukraine as revenge for a bomb that damaged Russia's bridge to occupied Crimea, a key supply link for his troops in Ukraine's south.

The dozens of air raids killed 19 people, wounded more than 100 and knocked out power supplies across the country.
