For sadly obvious reasons, the Gothenberg Film Festival was facing an inevitable cancelation in 2021. But its organizers came up with a special plan – one which is both a prize and a reward for one lucky film buff.
The Film Festival will run with a full program this year, with one significant difference: All 60 films will be seen by one person, only, who has a week of seclusion to concentrate and enjoy a personal festival.
Oh, and the screenings are in a lighthouse. Of course they are.
Lisa Enroth is a nurse, and a film addict. Throughout the pandemic she's been working on COVID-19 wards in Swedish hospitals. Along with 12,000 other film fans, she entered the Gothernberg competition – and as the winner she'll be spending next week in the Pater Noster lighthouse on Hamneskar island.

"I feel privileged to be able to do this, and to be able to watch all of these amazing movies in an isolated cinema experience. It's going to be great, I hope," Enroth said.
Enroth will be without a phone, computer, books or any other form of entertainment, apart from the films selected by the festival curators.
But she will also be making her own film – of sorts – in the form of a video diary of the special isolation period.
It wasn't just Enroth's love of film that won her the prize, organizer Jonas Holberg explained.
"We chose Lisa because she's a big film lover. That was very important for us – that there would be somebody who would appreciate the films that we love so much and have decided to program at the festival.
"But she has also dedicated this past year in the frontline against the COVID-19 pandemic."
