IN DETAIL

US targets Iran's civilian infrastructure

Washington and Tehran have been testing the limits of escalation since their ceasefire agreement collapsed last week, raising the prospect of a return to all-out war.

Civilian infrastructure was increasingly being subjected to attack despite concerns about potential war crimes.

Iranian media reported that several missiles struck power facilities and desalination pumps in the southern city of Jask, citing a local official. Some 10,000 people in 20 villages were without water, Tasnim news agency reported.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was concerned about escalation in the conflict, particularly "attacks on civilian infrastructure in Iran and across the region," his spokesperson said.

Iranian media reported strikes in Hormozgan province on the Strait of Hormuz. State TV said three people were killed and eight wounded while two bridges and a road tunnel were damaged.

Five explosions were heard in the central Iranian city of Yazd shortly after US strikes were announced, according to the IRNA state news agency. Mehr, another state-controlled agency, reported explosions "in several provinces in the south" of the country.

Iran renews attacks on US allies in Gulf region

Iran launched renewed attacks on US Gulf allies after a seventh straight night of US strikes targeting Iranian military sites including logistics infrastructure, escalating the war one week after a fragile ceasefire agreement fell apart.

Kuwait said Iran struck another of its power and water plants, leading to several power generation units being deactivated, a day after a similar attack.

It is the second attack on a power and water plant in as many days, with the first on Friday causing a fire and damage at the facility.

The country's national carrier said most of its flights were being rescheduled as air traffic had been temporarily suspended at Kuwait International Airport due to rocket and drone attacks.

Kuwait's fire service said attacks by Iran sparked blazes at two locations, with several firemen and a worker injured.

Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they struck a US military support center at Camp Arifjan and destroyed a radar facility at Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.

Iranian state media reported that in Bahrain, the Revolutionary Guards targeted a site where US combat aircraft were gathered at Sheikh Isa Air Base and an intelligence data center.

"Since there is no international institution to prevent the savagery of the US military, we have no path before us except the Quranic command: 'Whoever attacks you, attack it in the same manner'," the Guards said in a statement warning US allies in the region to expect more strikes.
