Talks impasse continues
Efforts to end the Iran conflict are at an impasse with US President Donald Trump unhappy with the latest proposal from Tehran, which he claimed, without evidence, had informed the US it was in a "state of collapse" and figuring out its leadership situation.
Iran's most recent offer for resolving the two-month war would set aside discussion of its nuclear program until the conflict was concluded and shipping disputes resolved.
But Trump wants nuclear issues dealt with from the outset, a US official briefed on Trump's Monday meeting with his advisers said.
In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump said: "Iran has just informed us that they are in a 'State of Collapse'. They want us to 'Open the Hormuz Strait,' as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation (Which I believe they will be able to do!)."
It was unclear from his post how Iran might have communicated that message and there was no immediate response from Tehran to Trump's latest comments.
Earlier, an Iranian army spokesperson told state media the Islamic Republic did not consider the war over.
Netanyahu celebrates apparent Hezbollah tunnel attack
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel blew up a "massive Hezbollah terrorist tunnel" in Lebanon on Tuesday (April 28).
In a video statement issued by his office, Netanyahu said that Israel was destroying Hezbollah infrastructure and will continue to target Hezbollah militants.
"We are operating within the security zone, south of the Litani, north of the Litani, in the Beqaa Valley, and in northern Lebanon," he said.
The US-mediated ceasefire agreed between Israel and Lebanon has led to a significant reduction in hostilities, but Israel and Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah have continued to clash in southern Lebanon, where Israel has kept soldiers in the self-declared buffer zone.
Israel has continued to carry out strikes across southern Lebanon, destroying homes it describes as infrastructure being used by Hezbollah. The Iran-backed group, meanwhile, has kept up its drone and rocket attacks against Israeli troops in Lebanon and on northern Israel.
Hezbollah reported a series of attacks on Tuesday on Israeli forces inside Lebanon's territory, including in al-Qantara and al-Taybeh.

Iran army chief: Tehran retains 'many winning cards'
Iranian army spokesman Brigadier-General Mohammad Akraminia told state-run TV that the country's air force has successfully attacked enemy bases "in regional countries, including the counter-revolutionary base in Erbil, Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar".
Akraminia told Press TV "more than 170 enemy aircraft" have been hit in Iranian attacks in recent weeks, including 16 fighter jets".
He warned: "If the enemy again commits aggression and threatens the security of this land, they will face a more crushing response than before. We have many winning cards that we have not yet used."
