The fourth China-UK Investor Forum opened in London on Tuesday, bringing together policymakers, financial leaders and industry experts to promote deeper cooperation in innovation, investment and economic development between the two countries.

Hosted by OMFIF, the event gathered more than 100 senior representatives from across the public and private sectors, including sovereign wealth funds, public pension funds, asset and wealth managers, banks, insurance firms, technology developers and private investors.

Addressing the forum, Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang outlined China's policy priorities and reaffirmed the country's commitment to high-quality development. 

He emphasized the importance of strengthening China-UK cooperation and encouraged British businesses to expand their presence in the Chinese market.

Zheng also highlighted opportunities for UK companies to leverage platforms such as the China International Import Expo to introduce high-quality products to Chinese consumers. He called for enhanced collaboration in sectors including green finance, clean technology, asset management and insurance.

Ivan Rogers, the former UK Permanent Representative to the EU, pointed to significant opportunities for the UK in engaging with China, particularly in private sectors where the UK has comparative advantages.

He stressed the need for effective policies on immigration, visas and higher education to support stronger bilateral ties in the coming years.

Meanwhile, OMFIF Chairman David Marsh said the UK is well positioned to play a leading role in fostering a renewed European-Chinese partnership. He noted that cooperation could be strengthened across a range of sectors, especially in finance and technology.

Marsh highlighted areas such as digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, communications, raw materials, transport and energy as key fields where increased collaboration between Europe and Asia could drive growth and investment, benefiting all parties involved.
