This year marks 75 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and China and these ties can help inspire others to work together for mutually beneficial goals despite their differences.

This was the passionate message from Qian Minjian, China's new Ambassador to Switzerland, speaking at the G219 Photography Exhibition in Bern in an exclusive interview with CGTN Europe.

Having only taken office in July, Qian said: "I'm looking forward to so many things. High-level exchange visits, cooperation in global governance.

"I would like to say I would like to keep and develop our bilateral relations in general because for the past 75 years we have developed our bilateral relationship with Switzerland as a good example for countries with different social systems and at different development stage.

"In the coming years I would like to focus to develop our bilateral relations with Switzerland in every section."

Qian attended the G219 exhibition in Bern which runs until November 17. It has been co-created by participants from China and Switzerland to encourage others to "enjoy the journey of the fascinating stories" of both countries.

Qian added: "The China Cultural Center in Bern has hosted a number of activities, hosting Chinese art galleries, museums, art groups, and all these activities are warmly welcomed by the local community.

"For me, the China Cultural Center in Bern is a pragmatic measure of realizing the key consensus reached by leaders of our two countries.

"It's also a vivid showcase of strengthening, dialogue, deepening mutual learning between different cultures, different civilizations, and it's also a new platform for people-to-people exchange and cultural exchange. It's very important."
