Donald Trump's campaign have accused the UK Labour Party of interfering in the U.S. election.

The accusations stem from a post on social media by a Labour official seeking volunteers to help raise support for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. The post offered to arrange accommodation. Foreigners may campaign in U.S. elections but they cannot receive any form of payment.

The Trump campaign has complained to the U.S. election commission that Labour, which has been in government in the UK since July, has contravened election rules. In a news release they compared the incident with Britain's colonial administration of North America.

"The far left Labour Party has inspired Kamala's dangerously liberal policies and rhetoric," the statement said. "The Harris campaign's use of this illegal foreign assistance is just another feeble attempt in a long line of anti-American election interference."

UK prime minister Keir Starmer says all those who traveled to the U.S. were volunteers and did not receive any support from his party.
