Can COP16 tackle biodiversity loss, climate change and funding?

The Agenda

29:40

The COP16 Biodiversity Summit in Cali, Colombia will see conservationists and government delegations addressing the pressing issue of climate change and its impact on nature.

Developing nations, including China, argue they should not be held responsible for the environmental damage caused by industrialized countries. Two years ago, 196 countries endorsed the Global Biodiversity Framework, vowing to halt the loss of biodiversity by the end of this decade. But, with progress stalling, are those ambitious commitments now at risk?

To find out, on this edition of The Agenda, Juliet Mann speaks to Thomas Crowther, Professor of Ecology at ETH Zurich; Dimitri de Boer, Regional Director of Programmes for Asia at ClientEarth; Lin Li, Senior Director of Global Policy and Advocacy at the World Wildlife Fund; and Akanksha Khatri, Head of Nature and Biodiversity for the World Economic Forum.
