Europe is preparing to welcome Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Xi will visit France, Serbia and Hungary on a visit beginning May 5.

He is expected to meet with French president Emmanuel Macron as well as Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president, before moving on to Belgrade on May 7 and from there to Budapest.

Topics up for discussion will range from trade and economic co-operation, through collaborations on climate change and biodiversity, to conflicts and crises around the world.
