WATCH: How does Russia's election work?
Russian President Vladimir Putin is aiming to win a sixth term in office this weekend.
Putin is standing as an independent candidate in the presidential election. He will face three contenders: the Communist Party's Nikolay Kharitonov, the Liberal Democratic Party's Leonid Slutsky, and Vladislav Davankov from the 'New People' party.

Russia has introduced laws which prevent presidents from serving more than two terms although this limit does not include any terms of office before 2024.
The poll will run from March 15 to 17 - the first Russian presidential election spanning three days. More than 110 million people are eligible to vote this year. The turnout in the 2018 election was 67 percent.
The country is also set to introduce internet voting for the first time. Nearly 38 million voters in 28 regions will be able to cast online ballots.
