Just on the trade front, the two partners exchange $6 billion of goods and services each year.

This week they are celebrating Chinese New Year alongside 45 years of full diplomatic relations.

China's ambassador to Portugal said that represents a "huge milestone".

"I want to take advantage of this opportunity to wish the people of China and Portugal a prosperous and strong year ahead. We look forward to an ever strengthened relationship that benefits the two countries and the two peoples," Zhao Bentang told CGTN.
