Volvo Trucks is the latest company to showcase new heavy duty vehicles that run on electricity and renewable fuels as it seeks to accelerate progress towards its net zero goals.
The Swedish truck maker has expanded its electric range from six to eight models, as the company looks to reach net zero in its vehicle production by 2040.
The launch includes a fleet of new, energy-efficient models, featuring electric and renewable fuel options, aimed at slashing CO2 emissions.
In Europe, Asia and Indonesia there will be "up to 5 percent reduction in terms of fuel consumption," with the release of the heavy-duty Volvo FH Aero, Volvo Trucks CEO Roger Alm told CGTN.

Alms said the North American market will see the introduction of Volvo's all-new energy-efficient platform, cutting fuel consumption by "up to 10 percent" while also enhancing the safety level significantly.
The North America platform will be the base for a range of new models in the years to come, utilizing the company's palette of electric and renewable fuel technologies, as well as efficient combustion engines.
When asked what needs to happen to ensure sufficient battery charging stations, Alm said: "there is not a silver bullet solution for all in the transport sectors." He added that the company is "making applications for all kinds of segments, all kinds of markets and also all kinds of customers."
According to Alms: "We need to expand the charging infrastructure, but it also needs to have electrical capacity as well to drive these electrical trucks."
Alm added that Volvo Trucks is investing in green hydrogen technology and hopes that "real production" could happen at the "end of the decade."
