China launches ocean satellite

China successfully launched its New Generation Ocean Color Observation Satellite HY-3-01 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The scientific research satellite, part of the Civilian Space Infrastructure, has been subjected to major improvements over past models and is set to enhance China's ability to monitor and study the oceanic environment. 

 

Organisms and seeds tested after space exposure

Chinese scientists have completed tests on the first batch of 22 biological samples that were exposed to space outside the China Space Station (CSS) before being brought back to Earth by the Shenzhou-16 crew. 

The samples include four experiment boxes for nematodes, one for microorganisms and three for seeds. The scientists verified that the country's first radiation biological exposure experiment, which began in June and lasted over five months, met the requirements of subsequent scientific experiments.

Tourist railway links Beijing and Vientiane

The China-Laos Railway started a cross-border tourist train service from the Chinese capital Beijing to Laos capital Vientiane on Monday.

The train departed at 2:02 a.m from Beijing Fengtai Railway Station and will travel along the Beijing-Guangzhou and Shanghai-Kunming train lines via Libo, Anshun in Guizhou Province then arrive at Kunming, Yunnan Province. 

Then the train will keep going along China-Laos railway to Lao capital Vientiane, with several stops including Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng. The return trip will pass by China's attractions such as Xishuangbanna in Yunnan Province and Chibi city in Hubei Province. The round trip takes 15 days.

 

Mega gas field launches in Bohai

A leading oil and gas producer in China announced the entry into production of the Phase-I development project of the first gas field with expected reserves of 100 billion cubic meters on November 14. 

The development of this project shows a leap forward in the country's development of deep-sea drilling technology and is a breakthrough in the complex buried-hill reservoirs development. The success of the project holds great importance to ensuring national energy security and optimizing the country's energy structure.

China's ultra high speed internet backbone

China has launched the world's first ultra-high-speed next-generation internet backbone with a bandwidth of 1,200G bits per second (1.2T), boasting a total transmission network of over 3,000 kilometers linking Beijing, Wuhan and Guangzhou. 

The Future Internet Technology Infrastructure (FITI) backbone is a major technological achievement of China's national FITI project, and was revealed at a press conference held at the Tsinghua University in Beijing on Monday. 

 

Chinese soccer star living English dream

Chinese footballer Zhang Linyan hopes that a spell playing in England will help improve her performances for the national team after making a big move to one of the world's top leagues.  

The 22-year-old signed for Women's Super League side Tottenham Hotspur in September on a season-long loan from Wuhan Jianghan University, the three-time Chinese Women's Super League champions. She scored on her full debut in a 6-0 win against Reading in the Continental League Cup last month.
