When you look at any LED billboard, there's a high probability the panels it's made of were constructed in the Leyard factory in the Slovakian town of Prešov. The company is a market leader in LED panel making.

Up to 200 highly-skilled workers make the LED panels in Prešov. Most panels made here end up on walls from Europe to the United States.

The Leyard factory here is another example of a Chinese company that first established itself in Slovakia, and is now expanding its production capacities in the country.

Recently, Chinese automaker Geely started work on a billion-dollar project for the construction of a Volvo brand factory in the town of Košice.

How ancient China links to the world

In Leyhard's factory, where every day hundreds of LED panels are made, each one must pass through the hands of a number of workers before it's shipped to the end customer. The demand for these panels is so overwhelming that the factory needs to produce them 24/7.

The company achieves an annual turnover of around $80million. It's a reason for pride, even in Slovakia's parliament where its speaker Boris Kollar praised the company's success as a great step towards the expansion of Sino-Slovak relations.

"I think that in order to move these relations forward, we must not play politics and see China as some kind of enemy but as a partner. Slovakia clearly recognizes the policy of 'one China'," Kollar told CGTN. "That needs to be said and I want to say it here on camera as well."

Slovakia is a small country in central Europe with a strong industrial base. It's an advantage that its government is happy to offer foreign investors, as František Fečke, Leyard Europe's chief operating officer, confirms to CGTN.

"We have good co-operation with the Slovakian government and they are supporting us," said Fečke. "We are in close co-operation, continuously with them about the support for R&D and the other activities we are planning to do here in Slovakia."

Future plans for the factory include creating a new department in charge of designing new products. It would result in more jobs created for the highly-skilled workforce, more investments and more revenue for the country's budget.
