Here are six stories from China you may have missed this week...

Industry experts say China's industrial robotics sector is booming. The International Federation of Robotics has released new data showing China installed nearly 300,000 new robots last year.  

New installations climbed 13 percent per year between 2017 and 2022, but the upward trend may soon be over, with the IFR warning that a global economic slowdown could weaken demand. 

It's all systems go for a new high-speed railway between Fuzhou and Zhangzhou on China's east coast. A bullet train took the first journey on the line on Thursday. 

Trains will be able to travel as fast as 350 kilometrsr per hour between the cities. Nearly 20 kilometers of track stands directly above the sea.

China is set to become the world's biggest auto exporter in 2023. Chinese officials say exports could reach four million vehicles by the end of the year. 

Meanwhile, the sector is exploring new ways to use artificial intelligence. Industry insiders say carmakers are looking to build on 'AI foundation models' that will pave the way for more intelligent, connected vehicles. 

Government figures suggest that cars with combined driver assistance accounted for nearly half of all domestic sales in the first half of the year.

China is leading the pack in the race for gold medals at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The country got off to a winning start in the athletics events, taking first place in the men's and women's 20-kilometer race walks.

The holiday rush has begun, with the so-called Golden Week kicking off. The eight-day holiday runs from September 29 to October 6 and millions of people are set to visit China's travel hotspots. 

The national railway operator says it sold nearly 23 million train tickets in a single day. Airlines have scheduled an average of 17,000 flights per day during the holiday period.
