China Quick Take brings you six stories you may have missed this week – from football fever to a cartoon animation festival and Siberian tigers. 

 

Renewable power project

The construction of a new ultra-high voltage power transmission project, which will send power from northwest China to the central province of Hunan, began in Tengger Desert in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on Sunday.

The project will be operational by 2025, with a total investment of 28.1 billion yuan (about $3.9 billion).

 

Shanghai International Technology Fair

The 9th China International Technology Fair (CSITF) opened on Thursday in Shanghai, showcasing advanced technologies in digitalization and green development.

Eight editions of the fair have been held since 2013. This event is important for displaying advanced technologies and deepens international exchanges and cooperation in the field of technology trade.

Farm land protection

China will further strengthen regulations on farm land protection. A ministry spokesperson introduced a recently released 10-point document on strictly abiding by land regulations.

The document outlines specific regulations about land use, covering areas including the protection of cultivated land, further standardizing the balance of occupation and compensation of cultivated land, strictly abiding by the red line of ecological protection, and avoiding all kinds of illegal construction activities that destroy the ecological environment and violate the requirements of ecological protection.

 

Cartoon Animation Festival

The China Cartoon and Animation Museum has announced the upcoming 19th China International Cartoon Animation Festival which will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, from June 20 to June 24.

This year's festival features over 20 activities across five major sections, including exhibitions, competitions, forums, business events and various other activities.

 

Football fever 

With a 2-0 victory World Cup winners Argentina beat Australia at the Beijing Worker's Stadium on Thursday. Siberian tiger spotted

Photographs of an adult tigress were captured by infrared cameras in the Greater Hinggan Mountains in Northeast China. This photographic evidence shows that Siberian tigers have returned to China's Heilongjiang Province thanks to the country's unremitting ecological conservation efforts.
