China is going to release a position paper on political solutions of the Ukraine crisis upon the upcoming first anniversary of the Ukraine crisis, China's top diplomat Wang Yi said on Saturday.

Wang Yi, the Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, made the remarks after delivering a keynote speech at the 59th Munich Security Conference in Germany, in which he stressed that China always stands on the side of peace and dialogue on the Ukraine issue.

The conflict should not continue any more, said Wang. Chinese President Xi Jinping has pointed out clearly that conflicts and wars produce no winner; there is no simple solution to a complex issue, and confrontation between major countries must be avoided, he said.

China is worried that the Ukraine crisis would extend into a large-scale long-term conflict and has been promoting political solutions through dialogue since the very beginning, said the Chinese diplomat, while warning that there are "some forces" that do not want Ukraine-Russia peace talks to succeed.

Those forces don't care at all about the life of the people in Ukraine, nor do they care about the suffer of the Europe, they have bigger strategic goals, he continued.

Wang said China hopes that its European friends think calmly on the following questions: What efforts are required to stop the flames of war, what structures are required for the long-term peace and stability of Europe, and what type of roles Europe need to take to realize strategic freedom.

He reiterated China's stance that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. China appeals to all sides to protect the safety of the civil nuclear facilities, and is firmly against any attack on nuclear power stations, said Wang, adding China will call on all countries to oppose the use of biological and chemical weapons.

A safer world requires right choices of China and Europe

In his speech, the Chinese diplomat also called for enhanced dialogue and cooperation between China and Europe.

As two major powers and major markets in the world's multipolarization process, the choices of both China and the Europe will be significant to the world, Wang said.

If we choose dialogue and cooperation, there will be no camp confrontation; if we choose peace and stability, there will be no new cold war; if we chose open win-win relationships, global development and prosperity will have a promising future, said Wang.

He called it the common responsibility of China and Europe to build a safer world.
