Celebrations are underway across the world as people mark National Day of the People's Republic of China. There's a party-like atmosphere in a number of cities - seen as the perfect way to bring in what is known as golden week.

In Paris on Friday evening, the Chinese Embassy held a concert at one of the many beautiful inner-city theaters, featuring traditional performances from traditional artists. It showcased a wonderful melding of cultures- led by acclaimed artist, Guo Gan, who is the world's first Chinese national folk musician award winner.

Addressing the crowd, Guo Gan, who has lived in Paris for two decades said through music he is able to connect with people and bring about peace in ways that other forms of communication cannot. He hopes to continue building on the current good relationship between China and France- forging ties that are stronger and healthier than they have ever been, he added.

China's ambassador to France, Lu Shaye, who was front-and-center of Friday's spectacular show, was seen welcoming dignitaries from France and abroad- clearly thrilled in the blossoming of ties between Beijing and Paris.

Smaller events are also set to take place across France during the holiday - where around estimated 600,000 Chinese people live - thought to be the largest Chinese diaspora in Europe.
