Germany and the United Arab Emirates have signed an energy deal following the visit of Chancellor Olaf Scholz to the Middle East.
Germany is struggling to recover from its dependence on Russian oil and gas as supplies have been restricted as a result of tensions over the war in Ukraine.
Scholz and his coalition partners face pressures at home from households facing large rises in bills and businesses concerned about supply shortages.
The deal will see the UAE supply diesel and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to Germany.
