China and Wales should further enhance cooperation in education, culture, tourism, and sports, Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang has said.

Welsh Minister of Economy Vaughan Gething welcomed Ambassador Zheng on his visit to Wales on Wednesday, saying he hoped more Chinese companies would invest in the country, while more students and tourists could study and visit the nation. Gething added that Wales had distintinct advantages in agriculture, high-value-added manufacturing, life sciences, and renewable energy, sectors which could tap into the Chinese market in future.

Ambassador Zheng noted that China is willing to enhance cooperation with Wales, and hoped both sides could deepen cooperation in green industry, financial technology, and creative industries.

In a meeting with Chambers Wales President Paul Slevin, Ambassador Zheng extended his welcome to Welsh companies to participate in the 5th China International Import Expo to explore the Chinese market. Zheng also expressed hope that Chambers Wales would strengthen ties with Chinese enterprises to match the demands on both.

Slevin said China provided important opportunities for Welsh business, and Chambers Wales was willing to support more local enterprises to establish partnerships with Chinese enterprises and actively expand cooperation.
