China's ambassador to the UK exchanged gifts with the principal of the University of Edinburgh during a visit to Scotland.

Zheng Zeguang received a quaich, or whisky cup, from his host.

In return, he presented a replica scroll of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival to Peter Mathieson. 

The original painting, created more than one thousand years ago, is much celebrated in China for its portrayal of a festive street environment.
