It's now more than three weeks since the first Russian troops moved into Ukraine.

And, while there have been some diplomatic efforts to try to end the crisis, a peaceful conclusion still seems some way off. So, on The Agenda this week, Stephen speaks to both sides of the conflict to see whether there is really any chance of a diplomatic solution.

He talks to Sergei Markov, once a member of the Russian Duma and a former public spokesperson for President Putin and Oleksiy Honcharuk, who served as Prime Minister of Ukraine from August 2019 to March 2020.

For a European perspective - and particularly to examine Europe's reliance on Russian oil and gas, and how that has played into the conflict - Stephen also speaks to the former Prime Minister of Lithuania and now MEP, Andrius Kubilius.

And finally, he speaks to one of Ukraine's biggest rock stars, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk. From an underground station in Kharkiv, the lead singer of Okean Elzy describes what life is really like for the people of Ukraine, and what he's doing to improve morale.
