• Ukrainian cross-country skier Valentyna Kaminska has failed a doping test at the Beijing Winter Olympics, says the Games' testing authority. 34-year-old Kaminska tested positive for an anabolic steroid and two other banned substances, the International Testing Agency (ITA) said in a statement.

• Austria's Johannes Strolz expects to put his work as a traffic policeman on hold following his second medal of the Beijing Olympics after winning silver in the slalom. Since 2014, Strolz has been on the books of the police force in the town of Dornbirn, Austria. The 29-year-old went back to police duties following being cut from the Austria team last winter.

• Clement Noel claimed France's first alpine skiing gold medal of the Beijing Olympics when he won the men's slalom on Wednesday. Noel, the sixth-fastest after the first run, laid down the quickest second run to clock a combined total of 1min 44.09sec.

Italy's Arianna Fontana issue continues, as the country's most decorated female Olympian might have to miss out on the country's home games in Milan and Cortina, as a dispute with the national skating federation continues to be unresolved. Currently, she is training in Hungary due to a dispute with the Italian national skating federation, which opposes her husband Anthony Lobello as coach and accusations of aggression against her while training on the ice.

• Teenage Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva will go for a second Beijing Olympics title on Thursday, the next chapter in a damaging doping scandal that has overshadowed the Games. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruled that she could compete in the Chinese capital, although that does not mean that the Russian has been cleared of doping and could still face punishment later.
