The food we eat gives our bodies the "information" and materials they need to function properly. If we don't get the right information, our metabolic processes suffer and our health declines. In short, what we eat is central to our health.

But the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly changed our relationship with food.

This week on the Agenda Stephen Cole discovers how our eating habits have been shaped by globalization and the pandemic, as well as the difference between western and Chinese food.

Stephen speaks to Professor Chris Elliot from the School of Biological Sciences, Queen's University to discuss the best way of eating under the supply chain crisis and the urgency to reduce carbon emission.

Sally Poon, a registered dietitian based in Hong Kong tells us how nutrition can play a key role in boosting our immunity, as well as how we can eat healthily during lockdowns. She also gives some advice for vegans.

Lastly, we visit one of the most famous Chinese restaurants in London and talk to the manager John Man about the role of food in Chinese culture.
