Underwater kelp forests not only provide an oasis of life wherever they grow but they also purify water, stabilize sediment, prevent erosion and capture huge amounts of carbon while oxygenating the water.

These magical underwater forests once extended all along the UK's Sussex coast but now only small pockets remain. Much of this is due to industrial fishing practices such as bottom trawling and climate change.

Razor joins teams of scientists from Portsmouth University and the Sussex Wildlife Trust who have formed the Sussex Kelp Restoration Project, a scheme that aims to restore almost 200 square kilometres of lost kelp forest.
