Producer price inflation slows

China's factory goods inflation rose by 12.9 percent in November from a year earlier, compared with a 26-year high of 13.5 percent in October.

Seeds collected from tallest tree

Scientists in southwest China's Yunnan Province have collected seeds of the tallest known tree in the country. The Taiwania cryptomerioides, an evergreen conifer, grows in the Gaoligong Mountains in the western Yunnan highlands, straddling the border with Myanmar.

The tree measures 72 meters tall and more than 250 centimeters in girth. It's more than 1,000 years old.

Research ship returns to port

China's scientific research ship Tansuo-1 returned to a port in Sanya City, south China's Hainan Province, on Sunday, after completing a deep-ocean expedition to the Mariana Trench.

Aboard the research vessel was China's self-developed deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe (Striver), which successfully conducted 23 dives, with six exceeding a depth of 10,000 meters during the 53-day voyage that started on October 14.

Scientists collect samples from Tibet glacier

Chinese scientists have drilled four ice cores from glaciers located at more than 6,000 meters above sea level in the Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China.

Previous attempts to collect material from such heights have struggled owing to logistical issues but this time, the team was successful thanks to the use of helicopters to transport equipment and supplies.

Chinese President Xi Jinping extended congratulations on Friday on the 80th anniversary of the launch of the Chinese people's overseas broadcasting services.

On December 3, 1941, the CPC set up a radio station in Yan'an to broadcast in Japanese, marking the launch of the Chinese people's overseas broadcasting services.

China's State Tobacco Monopoly Administration issued draft rules on Thursday to manage e-cigarettes, a step to enhance the industry's regulations.

According to the draft rules, companies selling e-cigarettes in China must meet national standards to register with the tobacco authority and do business legally.
