U.S. President Joe Biden voiced deep concerns over Russia's actions in Ukraine in a video meeting with Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
Biden warned Putin of "strong economic" sanctions in case the situation in the country escalates, according to the White House.
U.S. intelligence bodies have claimed Putin plans an invasion of Ukrainian territory, a charge Moscow has firmly denied.

More broadly, the two leaders also discussed U.S.-Russia dialogue on strategic stability, ransomware and regional issues including Iran, according to White House officials.
The Kremlin has yet to comment the meeting but is known to want the U.S. to rule out Ukraine joining NATO.
The White House said talks ended at 12:08 p.m. Washington time (8:08 p.m. Moscow time), starting on 10:07 a.m. local time (6:07 p.m. Moscow time), according to news agency Tass.
