Lionel Messi has arrived in Paris to the delight of football fans in the French capital. 

At a press conference to introduce him to fans - hardly needed with this signing perhaps - Messi said he was "excited to start training," after his tears leaving Barcelona. 

Fans who spoke to CGTN Europe said the star's arrival was a dream, but their expectations were high. 

"It's cool, it was unexpected. We now have no reason not to win everything," one fan said. 

As for any financial or regulatory worries the landmark player may have caused the club, its president Nasser Al-Khelaifi brushed them aside. "We're not going to promise something we couldn't," he said.
