These birds of prey are preparing to leave their home in the UK for a fresh start in Bulgaria as part of a conservation project.

Five lesser kestrels, three griffon vultures, two Egyptian vultures and a saker falcon will leave the International Centre for Birds of Prey (ICBP) in Gloucestershire in the coming weeks.

The birds will be part of a series of breed-and-release programs that aim to restore the population levels of native species throughout Bulgaria.

The ICBP hopes to transport the birds before the end of the year but is currently raising money to fund the journey after being hit hard by the pandemic.

The center was forced to close its doors to visitors for nearly seven months before reopening after lockdown restrictions were eased. Watch our video to see the birds at the sanctuary.
