An artist has created a giant portrait of Ludwig van Beethoven in a field in northern Italy, using a tractor instead of a paintbrush.

Dario Gumba has created the 25 square meter image to mark the 250th anniversary of the German composer's birth. 

Gumba said he hoped Beethoven's Ode to Joy would serve as a symbol of hope for an end to the coronavirus pandemic.
