The EU and China have a shared commitment to green development and to establish a "better global governance" on climate change, according to China's ambassador to the EU, Zhang Ming.

In an exclusive interview, Zhang explains to The Agenda with Stephen Cole how China and the EU are working together to develop a better global understanding of the issue.

"During the China, Germany, EU leaders video meeting of September 14, Chinese and EU leaders agreed to establish a High-Level Dialogue on Environment and Climate Change and to foster a green partnership," said Zhang.

"I think this will be the fourth pillar for China-EU cooperation, and this reflects our shared commitment to pursuing green, low-carbon and sustainable development and safeguarding multilateralism. Competent authorities from both sides have already started discussing the follow-up details," he added.

The EU is continuing to push for a green deal, while China's newly implemented five-year plan, on top of other long-term objectives already in place, shows its determination to push towards a greener future.
