Plastics: business as usual spells disaster

Updated 2020.09.26 22:04 GMT+8

Breaking the Plastic Wave is a new report released this summer from experts from all over the world, including Oxford, Leeds and Imperial Universities.

It's unique computer modelling concluded that if a new multi-faceted approach to dealing with plastics isn't adopted globally now, nearly a billion tonnes of plastic waste will find its way into our oceans in the next thirty years.

The report's lead investigator, Dr Costas Velis from Leeds University explains to Stephen why taking a business as usual approach to dealing with plastic will lead to environmental disaster.
