Football fans will find it "difficult" to follow social distancing regulations put in place at Thursday night's UEFA Super Cup, according to a former international player.
More than 15,000 supporters could be in attendance at the match in Budapest, Hungary, which is being used as a test event to see if fans can safely return to more stadiums around Europe.

Measures implemented by UEFA, European football's governing body, include temperature checks, wearing a face mask when social distancing cannot be respected and maintaining a social distance of 1.5 meters.

But Janos Banfi, who has played 25 times for the Hungary national team, isn't convinced all the rules will be followed: "It's very difficult when people are excited that, 'oh, after so many months, I can go to the football games.' Obviously, people will be there who are not that afraid of the people around them," he told CGTN Europe.
"Their favorite player or favorite team scores, I think they will jump on to each other, but maybe not so." He added.

Despite the fans in attendance at the Super Cup, many stadiums around Europe remain without spectators.
And Banfi admits it hasn't been the same without fans during the pandemic.
"It's horrible, I think. You know, football is made for not just for the footballers obviously playing, but for fans as well. So, obviously this virus took the people away from the stands. I hope that people can be back to the stands soon because it's not the same game," he said.
