Through necessity or boredom, lockdown has encouraged experimentation in many fields, but it seems Europeans have stuck to the tried and tested in at least one area: alcoholic drinks.

On The Agenda With Stephen Cole, GlobalData drinks editor Olly Wehring explains the impact the pandemic has had on the drinks industry, saying that Europeans appear to be choosing well-known brands rather than experimenting with niche drinks as they would do at a bar or pub.

Wehring also reveals that in China, luxury companies have enjoyed a sizeable sales spike after the lockdown was lifted as people wanted to celebrate.

But although Europe's alcoholic drinks industry will see a healthy return over time, he doesn't believe it will make up for the losses already incurred.
