Alexei Navalny's doctor says no poison has been found in his body following medical tests over the past 24 hours.

Navalny, who is a fierce critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, was on a flight to Moscow when fellow passengers say he began screaming in pain before losing consciousness.

The plane was forced to make an emergency landing and Navalny was rushed to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition after falling into a coma.

Supporters of Navalny claim he has been poisoned as a result of his anti-Kremlin political views but his doctor has now issued an update on his health, that appears to counter those claims.

Head Doctor at Omsk hospital, Alexander Murakhovsky, said: "Currently, we have five working diagnoses. Unfortunately, I cannot share them with you because of the federal law. I can say they're all working, we're looking into all of them.

"They're being assessed by emergency physicians, neurologists, neurophysiologists, all specialists are working on them. We're all fighting for the life of our patient.

"My work subject to official documents and the documents that were sent to me from our chemical analysis lab, the range of substances that were tested for were all negative. Tests are still being conducted and they will continue for another two days.

Earlier on Friday, Germany  reaffirmed its offer of medical support for the stricken Russian politician in a statement released by German Health Minister, Heiko Maas.

He said: "We have made available that he can be treated in Berlin. That offer stands. But it is difficult for us to assess whether he can be transported from a medical standpoint."

A German human rights group also revealed that they have sent an ambulance plane to Siberia on Friday morning in the hope of transferring him to Berlin.

However, Russian doctors treating Navalny insist that he is still too ill to be transferred anywhere else for medical treatment.

"His condition is still not stable," added Murakhovsky. "Regarding transporting him, I believe it's too early to talk about it, we need to stabilize the patient completely. Only in this case can we can talk about him being transported to where his relatives want and in agreement with all parties."

Navalny's wife and spokeswoman, Kira Yarmysh, has hit out at his medical team for not allowing him to be flown to Germany. She tweeted: "The ban on the transportation of Navalny is an attempt on his life, which is being made right now by doctors and the deceitful authorities who sanctioned it."

"We certainly cannot trust this hod we demand they hand him over to us so that we will be able to treat him in an independent hospital whose doctors we trust." She said in an interview.
