Significantly more people believe that China has responded well to COVID-19 than those who think the U.S. has done a good job, a wide-reaching international survey has shown.

More than 120,000 people from 53 countries and territories were questioned in the survey, which found that more than 60 percent of people thought that China had responded well to the crisis, whereas only a third around the world thought the U.S. response had been effective.

Just over half of those surveyed in the U.S. thought their government had responded well, in the survey conducted by the Denmark-based Alliance of Democracies Foundation, headed by the ex-Nato secretary general Anders Fogh Rasmussen, and German polling company Dalia Research.

Greece topped the poll with 89 percent of respondents stating their satisfaction with their government's handling of the crisis. Australia, Denmark, and South Korea also had high proportions of satisfaction among those surveyed.
