Students from a school in western China, who wanted to thank pupils in Northern Ireland for dedicating a Mandarin song during the pandemic, have themselves recorded a song in English as a token of friendship.

In February, the children of Millburn Primary School in Coleraine, Northern Ireland sang 'Let the whole world be filled with love', to extend their support to those suffering from COVID-19 in China.

The effort was greatly appreciated by Chinese students, which led children from the Depu Foreign Language School in Chongqing to express their gratitude and best wishes to their friends in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK by singing the ballad 'Danny boy', in return.

In a Facebook post, the Millburn Primary School said: "Now if this beautiful story isn't worth sharing during the uncertain times that we currently find ourselves in, then what story is worth sharing?"

The Chinese-language choir at the school was organized by the Confucius Institute at Ulster University. One third of the project's teachers are from Hubei province, where the coronavirus outbreak was first reported.
