"It's not only about the army, military forces, medical doctors. It's also about ordinary people."

That's the message that China's ambassador in London would like to pass on as the UK attempts to learn from his nation's battle with the coronavirus.

While the Chinese government introduced wide-ranging measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 and mobilized millions of professionals to the hardest hit areas, it was the actions of normal people that Liu Xiaoming credits with containing the disease.

While listening to the government comes less easily to Britons than Chinese citizens, social responsibility is key to preventing the crisis from becoming a disaster, according to Liu.

Speaking to CGTN's Nawied Jabarkhyl, he also discussed drug development; mutual assistance; and tensions between Beijing and Washington.
