Messages of support to coronavirus-stricken China has been sent from all over the world – including London.

The UK's capital has joined those offering words of encouragement and solidarity to Wuhan and Chinese citizens with a special message from its financial hub and the city's symphony orchestra.

The City of London's lord mayor and its policy chair have shared a video message wishing China the best.

"We recognize that the spread of the virus is a cause for worry, but we know you will prevail," said Lord Mayor William Russell.

Policy chair Catherine McGuinness reinforced this message of support, advocating for international support to China.

"At moments such as these, true international collaboration can help beat even the most overwhelming challenges."

The London Symphony Orchestra's managing director Kathryn McDowell also recorded a video message for China and especially Chinese audiences and all the people the orchestra has worked with since it started to play concerts in China in 2004.

"We've had some wonderful concerts in Wuhan in recent years, and we've much enjoyed playing to audiences there," said McDowell.

"We wish you all strength and courage to sustain life through this difficult period," she added.
