A French chocolatiers' creation of an edible Berlin Wall drew in the public as they watched it be demolished on Saturday in remembrance of the fall of the Berlin Wall 30 years ago.
In scenes that mirrored 9 November 1989, a friendly handshake through the wall was re-enacted, and cheers of joy filled the Paris streets as the structure plummeted to the ground.
As the gathering crowd celebrated the symbolic gesture whilst helping themselves to the chocolate, made by Patrick Roger, he overwhelming said "It's amazing, 200 kilos of chocolate gone in a few minutes. It's amazing to share the taste, the values and a certain wind of liberty as we all need it in these times.
"I even have goose bumps by speaking about it, it is beyond what I wanted to do."

For some who lived in a divided Germany, the act of remembrance encouraged them to visit the French capital to be a part of the event. As she shared chocolate with her family, Elke Lorenz said, "I'm happy. I still remember when the (Berlin) wall came down, I was 15-years-old. And I remember everyone being excited and happy."
