In pictures: The UK's Remembrance Service
By Alex Hunt

The UK's royal family, political and religious leaders and representatives of the armed forces, have gathered to pay their respects at the annual Remembrance Service.

The occasion is held each year on the Sunday nearest to 11 November, at 11:00, at the Cenotaph in central London. It was traditionally to commemorate British and Commonwealth servicemen and women who died in the two World Wars and later conflicts but that has been extended to civilian victims of war or acts of terrorism.
