Host Stephen Cole examined trade relations between the UK and China in the first edition of The Agenda.

Chinese ambassador to the UK, Liu Xiaoming, was the show's first guest, explaining how China sees mutually beneficial ties with the UK.

He insisted that the basis for such a relationship was respect, noting that some British politicians "still fail to realize Hong Kong is now part of China – they still treat Hong Kong as part of the UK, or still under British colonial rule."

Trade experts Ting Zhang and David Henig also appeared on the program to examine how a new relationship could be forged between the two countries - through partnerships, education and businesses.
