Daimler have agreed to pay a fine of $957 million euros over the alleged certification of tens of thousands of cars which breached emission regulations. 

Prosecutors in Stuttgart, Daimler's home city, said Daimler was fined because it negligently violated regulatory duties. 

Daimler says it was "in the company's best interest" to avoid appealing and conclude the proceedings. 

The prosecutors' findings that Daimler deviated from regulatory 2008 requirements refers to recalls of orders by German authorities, says Daimler. 

In May 2017, prosecutors searched Daimler's offices because of a fraud inquiry due to claims of manipulation of exhaust gas after-treatment in Diesel cars. 

The manufacturer says it is maintaining its objections against those orders "in order to get clarity also for the future." 

The German car company says the fine will not create additional impact to its third-quarter earnings and it is maintaining its forecast. 

Daimler's shares declined 0.7% to $50.53 at 3:26pm in Frankfurt, according to Bloomberg.
