In 2019, nearly 20,000 Chinese students applied to study in the UK – up 25 percent compared with last year.
Some students said their choice to come to the UK instead of the US was partly related to personal safety and the ongoing China-US trade war.
This year, the UK will have around 7,700 Chinese students in the country, which has doubled over the past decade.
Zarina Guan is a student who moved to China from the UK to study. Her parents wanted her to experience an education in the country despite being unable to speak English when she first arrived.
Zarina learnt the language while studying business at Keele University.
Since then, she's been determined to bring some of her heritage to Britain.
In 2018, she set up a company called Cheng International, which sells the strong Chinese spirit baijiu. From its headquarters in the Blackfriars area of London, the company imports the liquor from China and then sells it to both local retailers and others around the world.
Zarina plans to promote more of her country's culture including its history, brewing, food and music to an international audience.
